It is intended to bring information security under management control and gives specific requirements to comply with. Organizations that meet the requirements may be certified by an accredited certification body following successful completion of an audit.
Why is this important?
ISO/IEC 27001 certification is a major requirement, especially for the exchanges.
With cyber threats increasing in variety, scale, frequency, and sophistication, exchanges need to be in a better position to deal with these threats and keep platform safe.
That said, the exchange should be highly secured so that the traders can trust with their funds.
ISO/IEC 27001 can be a proof to users that a company is diligent in following certain processes since the implementation of a suite of processes costs a lot of time, money and effort.
Certification can certainly be a factor when users are choosing the exchanges.
